ABOUT ME
Upholsterer Geoff
EDUCATION
I studied furniture design at Liverpool Community College (UK) from 1994 to 1997 and simultaneously studied for and acquired City & Guilds of London exams in Traditional Upholstery, Cabinet Making & Furniture Finishing. These separate units added up to a full City & Guilds Furniture Craft Part II certification.
Having a great eye for detail and showing a natural ability to produce quality work, this first taste of upholstery opened up a whole new world to me.
EXPERIENCE
I cut my teeth on an informal upholstery apprenticeship with a company called Dane Interiors in my hometown of Liverpool (UK). Dane were an amazing producer of high end, beautifully designed and built, bespoke furniture, the quality of which was first rate and seldom seen, attracting attention and sales from high profile celebrities, musicians, sports stars and TV companies.
After a break to do some traveling I then went on to work for the N.H.S. in a re-upholstery role to expand my experience. Working out of a wonderful old victorian workshop on the grounds of Fazakerley hospital we covered all aspects of re-upholstery, a job with many strange upholstery requests!
Since my move to the glorious Australia in 2010 I have been self employed covering all aspects of domestic upholstery and sub- contract commercial work.
PRESENT DAY
In 2016 after spending 7 years working in Sydney I finally escaped to the magical Blackheath in the world heritage Blue Mountains.
Always striving to use the best quality materials and produce the best quality work to ensure all of my clients complete satisfaction, I can now be found quietly working away, indulging my passion in my garden studio, restoring and making beautiful once again, upholstered furniture that has seen better days.
